About
The Site
Made with love
- Originally drafted in 2021 as a (terrible) personal introduction page- and I do mean terrible. Everything would break if it wasn't being displayed on a 1920x1080 screen. It's mobile-friendly nowadays!
- Entirely handcoded in HTML and CSS! It's been through
fourfive different styles now, and I'd like to think that it's improved each time.
Design Goals
- Keep writing and styling accessible.
- Keep things PG-13; if I ever make a page that's not safe for minors, then it must be clearly marked as such.
- Use as little Javascript as possible.
- Keep privacy and security in mind. Visitors shouldn't be put at risk.
- Avoid turning this website into social media. Contribute, but don't people-please.
- Give credits/sources whenever possible.
- Have fun. This supercedes all other rules; if working on this website is unpleasant, then find a way to change that or step back for a while. Rewrite the rules if needed.
The Webmaster
Any pronouns, musician, nerd.
- There's at least one screwdriver, pair of scissors, journal, pen, and pocket multitool on me at all times.
- I collect bread clips because of a random website I stumbled across 5+ years ago.
- I once spent 6 consecutive hours handsewing a muppet that I named Uncle.
- The head of my bed isn't against the wall despite the bed being in a corner.
- I have a deep appreciation for teddy bears.
- As a small child, I wanted to be an Olympic gymnast. I'm currently studying cybersecurity.
- I genuinely enjoy writing research papers and compiling sources. There's something very fun about discovering things that I knew nothing about before, then boiling it all down into the essence of itself so that others can easily understand the topic.

FAQ
Why Owl?
In 2016, I needed a new username. The one randomly assigned to me as a kid by the Burger King virtual world (yes, really) wasn't cutting it anymore, so it was time for a change.
The easy way out was using the nearest pattern as a placeholder while I tried to think of something better. That happened to be a blanket with cartoon owls on it, so I started going by Owls online. The name stuck. Eventually, I dropped the S and my online name has been Owl ever since.
You use any pronouns? Which should I pick?
If you're having a hard time choosing, then I'll tell you the same thing that I tell people offline: use whichever set seems the most wrong for me. Have fun with it.
What fonts does this site use?
The header title is Mansalva. Other headers are Libre Baskerville, and the body is Atkinson Hyperlegible. If your internet is a bit slow, then you might see Verdana as the body fallback.
Can I use this site's code?
Sure! It's all licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International, so you're good to go as long as you include some kind of attribution statement pointing back to me.
I'd be happiest if you heavily customize it and make it yours, but hey, it's Creative Commons. Go wild.
Do you make any website templates?
I've put out some free to use website templates here!
Will you fix my computer / solve some other problem?
- Are you paying me?
- Did I personally help you set up whatever's having problems?
- Are you using a program or service that I currently maintain or administer?
- Did you read the documentation or check a search engine for your problem, then give it at least a half hour's effort on your own?
- If the problem is interpersonal, then have you tried having an honest conversation about it?
- Is the problem nerd sniping material?
- Have I explicitly told you to come to me if you have this type of problem?
If the answer to all of these questions is "no", then please make at least one of them a "yes" before asking me to help. Don't sell yourself short! Odds are that you can solve the problem on your own. At the very least, you should put it into a search engine and see what comes up. That's the first thing I do with any tough issue, and the answer is usually in the first few results.
Here's a handful of sites I like for troubleshooting my own problems.
Where can I find your music?
My longform radio files can be found here, and everything else can be found on my archive.org page or my Bandcamp.
Where can I find your commission information?
How do you feel about geese?
They're funky little dinosaur men that want to kill you. I love them.
Are you kiki or bouba?
Bold of you to assume I ascribe to the kiki-bouba binary.
Does the owl mascot have a name?
Their name is Honeydew! Vi uses any pronouns, and vi's (very loosely) modelled after a Great Horned Owl.
